Spirulina is a direct source of essential nutrients
Intensive animal farming and fishing have caused significant animal welfare issues. Spirulina provides a high-quality, sustainable, and completely vegan alternative to animal-based protein sources. As all the essential amino acids are present in the plant-based protein of spirulina, it can perfectly contribute to a complete vegan diet.
Spirulina offers health benefits due to its cholesterol-free proteins, low calorie content, added minerals and antioxidants. Both ESA and NASA have utilized spirulina in space and the WHO has dubbed it the “food of the future”. It is considered to be one of the most nutrient-dense organisms on earth.
Spirulina production saves up to 90% of land and water resources compared to other protein sources such as soy and meat. Additionally, during the cultivation process, large amounts of carbon dioxide are converted into oxygen. This makes spirulina a sustainable and environmentally friendly option for meeting the growing demand for protein.
By processing spirulina into local school meals, we increase the nutritional value of the lunches provided to the pupils.
